Disputed Territories

Whilst on residency in the north east of the Czech Republic, I was struck by the extent to which the landscape and built environment both seemed immune to the multifaceted political, cultural and linguistic hegemonies which have defined the place in the last century and remarkably still spoke of Imperial Austria. Disputed Territories is a pastiche of amorphous wooden shapes harnessing the flux and fluidity of the region, yet recalling the centrality and commonality of the forest as a central motif within central European folk culture and my own connection with both that place and tradition.
